When it was completed in 1889, this massive building was a multi-use arts complex, including a hotel, office building tower and the acoustically perfect Auditorium Theater. It was the tallest building in the city and quickly made Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan famous as designers of a masterpiece. Read more:
