When built in 1968 this 70-story tower across from Navy Pier was the tallest apartment building in the world: 645 feet. It was inspired by a rough sketch done in 1921 by Mies van der Rohe and completed by his students John Heinrich and George Schipporeit. The tower sits on a raised platform with a private park above and parking beneath.
